How do I fit the Kirkley seats in my FB?

Hi, I am looking for some new racing seats for Auto-X and I came across from this...

http://www.kirkeyracing.com/index.php?link=browse&code=Series39

Will this fit? I am 6'1, so I need seats that they sit really low, and mainly CHEAP. I drive a FB, and my bro is looking for the same thing. I searched on here but I can't find any results, sorry if this has been posted!

If this work, how can I make this fit? I have some Corbeau racing seats in my car now but the cushion and seat is too high, whenever I go Auto-X, I have to tilt my head a little so the helmet won't bang on the headliner.

Let me know if anyone have done this on their FB... thank you!

There are lots of ways to install these type seats. You can modify the stock slider to accomodate or just build a little mount and bolt to the floor. These seats are made to have a seat brace that bolts/attaches to a roll bar in back of the seat, but you probably already knew that.

They fit fine in my FC. I used a Corbeau base with the sliders removed and then just drilled the bottom of the seat and bolted it down in 4 places. They will require a seat-back brace, or else they will flex back and forth quite a bit.

Thanks for the info. Do you guys have a picture of your seat with the brace?

You want to put the seat as close to the center of the car as possible. That way your helmet won't hit the roof or roll cage to the left of your head. And it moves your weight towards center of car for better weight distibution. Had to remove something that was spot welded on the floor for more room.

Best thing to do is try a seat in person, make sure it's the right width. I used a 20* layback Kirkey for more head clearance. Those aluminum seats can benefit from high density foam padding, bought at the upholstery store. Double layer the headrest.

Mounted mine with two strips of metal both under the seat. two bolts at very rear of seat, at the far outsides. bolted right thru bottom of seat, thru strip of metal, thru floor. Ran 2 more bolts thru seat front, thru strip. Bent metal strip down and mounted to stock front seat mount.

I/O port sells a great seat back brace that bolts to rollcage, adjustable and real nice unit. You want foam padding in front of where it mounts to keep your back happy.

Took about 4 hours to measure, test fit, and mount it.

Thank you very much for the info, Brad. If there's any questions I need with the install, mind if I send you a PM? Though, it's pretty detailed already. Do you have any pics of the metal going through under the seat??

It's hard to find a dealer that carries this seat around, I will ask the guys at Auto-X about that. I guess spending few hours on this is a must to make it work.
