How can I fit my Rotary to a superflow engine dyno
 

I plan to get my engine dynoed at a local place.

The guy whos doing it is well know for great tuning, but is not experienced in rotaries, and doesnt know if it will fit.

he says i will need a bellhousing to attach it to the machine.


anybody got any info on this.


I have 91 motor, and a 87 belhousing available now.

bolt it to a trans. Some how connect the output of the trans to the engine dyno... Put it in 4th gear. Done. That's how I dyno bike engines.

www.yawpower.com had to make an adapter for his engine dyno. Not sure if its the same type you'll be using but it can't hurt to ask him.

not really trying to do that, the whole point of engine dynoing vs Chassis is to remove all the drivetrain from the equation.


plus my tranny is old, and I dont know how it would hold up to that

ok... so find a spare trans and cut off the input shaft. Use the flywheel/pressure plate clutch disc and all. Weld the input shaft to a 1/2 shaft from a 2nd gen or some other car... connect that 1/2 shaft to the dyno.

If the dyno shop does not have the bellhousing you will likely have to buy one to fit the dyno. you will likely need a stock bellhousing and then modify or make an adapter for the dyno connection. not that hard but it will cost a couple bucks.

there are LOTS of machine shops around Mankato, one of the reasons I love this place.

shouldnt be too hard to make an adapter.


my dyno guy said that hooking up the input shaft on manuals is easy. Most of the time, you just find an appropriate clutch disc that fits both the dyno and behind the pressure plate.

I plan to drive the car for a while once i get it back together, then pull the motor this winter.

Im pretty sure im going to rewire the car with a Painless wiring kit, and a new haltech harness. To make sure everything is perfect and clean looking
