high reving engines for autoX/road racing

What kind of gains would a higher reving engine (9-10k rpm)would have in autoX or road racing? I'm curious about this because I've recently been doing some research on ceramic seals and I read that they show gains over stock seals at 6k-10k rpm

here's a link to the thread I posted in general rotary tech if you're interested or have knowledge in this area: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=136470

From what I understand, not much if any. Unless you can run a ported motor. most stock rotary's fall off at the end of the stock rev range.

Bring the bank! Not only are those seals way expensive but the mods needed to run 10k are hugely expensive. Even P-ports aren't revving to 10k.

YEa I was quoted around $2000 for a complete set of ceramic apex seals. Almost indestructable though, and have signifigant gains. If you build a Bridgey you might be able to get 10 grand but wont last really long at revs like that.
It would be nice to have a motor that redlined at 9g or above for auto-x. no shifting, just put it in second and go!!

wtf, rotaries should be able to rev super high, come on! LESS MOVING PARTS!!

stock seals are fine for 9-10G.. its all about tuneing.. you can rev your stock motor that high and watch it break apart becuase past 8500rpm your motors harmonics so out of wack... you need your motor race clearenced and tuned right and then you can have a more reliable high reving engine.. just all the balencing and tuneign will cost that extra money...

with good porting, you should easily be able to make power above 10k.. pp, absolutly. bp, probably (depending on how crazy the bridge is)

that's it...I'm engineering my own titanium rotary, good for 20k rpm! F1 here I come!

PP's dont idel barelt and are pretty unstreetable.. dont bother.. go bride if you want.. what you should do is just a SP for track

Very tuff unless in BP

I raced my 88TII in AS originally. Have reclassed to BS. Not competitive at all in BS, look how you will be racing against. In ASP you will be competing against 3rd gens that have the same mods as you.
In BP you will be racing against TII and 3rd gens with same mods as you.

My advice, race in BS and have fun. If you upgrade you will go to ASP, however just race to have fun. Depending upon your region you will not win. At national level I am busting my ass to build a competitive car.

One advantage is that at 10k, you should be able to go close to 50 in first gear. That would be good for really tight corners on a road race, or for staying in first an entire autocross.

i know people who are running p-ports as daily drivers in their REPU's..
