Help with wheel selection!!

so heres the deal... my dad bought a 91 rx7 ITS car. Right now we have the BBS convertable wheels on it (for sale BTW!) which are 6.5 inches wide i believe. ITS rules allow a 15 X 7 inch wheel. What's the preferred wheel for you guys? Take in consideration price and WEIGHT.

Theres a model of Kosei wheels 15X7 that popular with the miata guys that weight 10.6 pounds, however we cannot find them in the 5 lug 2nd gen pattern. The Kosei K1's are light too, but i have a feeling there is a better wheel.

Any suggestions? weight? price? link?

thanks guys

Circle Aluminum http://www.sdjmotorsports.com/CircleWhl.htm
these are very light.

You might also try thorage327 on this forum. He was telling me about some race wheels, very light, and very light $$. Also thorage327@yahoo.com.

yeah we've considered circles. Here's the Kosei's that the miata guys run. they are 10.6 pounds per wheel for 15 X 7's.

Wheels

I have been told the ideal offset is +20mm. I have Kosie K1's on my ITS FC and also a set of Team Dynamic Pro Race 1's. The K1 has a 35mm offset and the Pro Race is 38mm. Both require spacers to clear the adjuster on the front coil over.
This means you will need the proper longer studs. So far I have only been able to find these at Speed Source at about $6.00 each.
Both of these wheels are 13 lbs. The K1's are about $129 each and the Pro race are $110 each.
I have been quoted $190 each for the Circles by Tom at 7's only in Ca. The Circles are about 10 lbs and come in the +20mm offset.
Unless you are competing for top honors in your region I am not sure the lightest wheels will provide much benifit. It takes a very consistent driver to take advantage of lighter wheels.
I personally like the K1's look the best.

Search Silkworm's threads(or PM him), he details the wheels heruns in PS1(NASA), I believe it mirrors ITS rules. Also as more and more guys switch to Miatas, there are ALOT of 7s for sale, with ALOT of spares, so check the IT, and similar forums. Carl

Those are all excellant choices. Note that light costs $$$$ also note that light does not mean durable.
There are tons of choices for your car. You just need to pick the color. :)

specRX7_22 03-26-05 01:59 PM

found these.... http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...4.3&vid=006862

they're $100 per wheel and either 10 or 11 lbs each (ive looked at so many wheels i dont remember whether they were 10 or 11).

look good?

aznpoopy 03-26-05 02:43 PM

the offset is kind of weak. and the weight is actually 13lbs.

its not great, but if you are on a budget, it's not a bad pick.
