Help me pick the right FD LSD
Long story short, a local shop has lost my '87 t2 lsd and manual fd companion flange that I dropped off with an auto fd pumpkin for assembly. So now I am considering a kaaz or other aftermarket vs. picking up another s4 t2 lsd.
I drive the car on the street on a regular basis, dragstrip, attend a couple hpde weekends and autox's per year. Which one would best suit my "jack off all trades" type of car? If I do go with a kaaz etc., what % lockup would allow me hard launches at the strip and smooth cornering at the roadcourse? thanx for your time, Garrett |
You might want to test drive a car with a cusco/kaaz before you go to the trouble of installing one.
Sounds like you'll make the same use of your car as I do. I have the cusco/3;90 in my FD/LS1 and have been considering removing it. It's a 2-way and really makes a horrific clanking noise around corners. I wanted to track the car but the car wallows around long sweeping turns when the rear is between locking and unlocking. I put in new diff bushings (stock) so I don't think that's the problem. I'm using NEO gear oil. Just food for thought. Too bad your in Wis. otherwise you could check my setup out. Jack |
Yeah, ^ that's what I'm worried about, have you tried removing any of the plates?
Now I am having a helluva time tracking down a t2 diff. The jimlab cobra cradle is looking better every day! |
I've got a turbo lsd.
