Hello everyone

I am glad i found this site there are a lot og good questions and answers:)

I also have a question and i sure hope someone can help me out.

Let's begin at the beginng

My daughters cousin racers on a 3/8 mile dirt track in the stock division after a few races she decided she wants to race, well i buy a cutlass and start on it about two weeks latter we go talk to the track officials and find out she is too young to race in that division with no experience at racing; but she can race in the mini stock division.

Second car: 1st generation 82 Mazda 12A engine well we get it approved for racing from the tech guy and start the build only thing left is paint; well we take it 50 miles to the track to get it approved and pass all the safety policies everything goes great till i lift off the hood and a new tech guys says "You" will not be racing that here with the rotary motor; well after a lot of ill words i am not proud of we pack it up and bring it home.

So the only way we can race is go to a 4 cylinder engine; is their any model or type of engine that will bolt up to the Mazda bell housing?

I can fab anything else that is needed, i just need a motor size, year model and brand.
Thank you for taking time reading this, maybe someone can help

Man, that's gotta suck. Maybe there is a different type of racing that she could do. Autocross is an excellent place to start, and you won't have to put up with any BS from morons either.

For events, check out www.myautoevents.com In Florida, there should be races all over the place...

No rotories?! Why not?

Is there a set of written rules and specs that you were building to (the equivalent to the SCCA General Competions Rules) that specifically says "no rotories"? It sound like the "new" tech guy had a thing against RX-7s. You may be able to appeal or find another tech guy.

A 12A rotary should just be treated like any other 2.4L four-banger, at least for displacement purposes.

Would your daughter be interested in road racing (as opposed to oval)? There are some good opportunities there.

As for four-bangers which would fit, I would possibly check with the Miata guys about bell-housing or tranny matches between the 12A and a 1.6 or 1.8 Miata engine.

Good luck.
