GS-610 Brake Fluid Anyone Heard of This?
 

Im here reading about it at 40$ per 16 oz it better be good. Has dry boiling point of 610 degrees and wet of 421.

Looks good, but is it worth it?

Isn't Motul 600's wet boiling point higher than 421? I don't have the info in front of me, I thought it was in the mid-high 400s. Dry was a little lower (like very high 500s), but the wet was very high.

The wet boiling point is the boiling point at which your fluid will boil when it is saturated with water. This number is only really useful if you have old fluid next to your caliper, and it has had enough time to soak in a lot of moisture. The dry boiling point is what you have to worry about. Personally I use Ford DOT 3 HD fluid, it has a dry point of 550, and for $3.50 a bottle I just flush the system before each event. Now, if I were a semi-pro or pro road racer I would probably use the more expensive stuff, just to be sure it didn’t end up costing me a race. But since I just do open track events, I don’t see the point in spending the extra money.

Does that really apply to brake fluid? But to answer your question, with their brake fluid, never, nor have the others I personally know who use it.

But to argue your point, I used to own a 96 GT, sold it with 100k on the odo in 2002. Aside from the clutch, which was my fault, the only two problems I ever had with it were a leaking pinion seal at around 90k, and a leak in the A/C lines around 95k. How many problems have you had with your RX7?

As for your original question, which I didn’t really didn’t answer, GS-610 looks like very good fluid, easily one of the best. However, in my opinion, the best money can buy is Castrol SRF with a dry point of 590 and a wet point of 518. Not quite the dry point of 610, but with a wet point that’s over 500, well that’s just a hell of an insurance policy. Although at $63 a liter, the stuff is liquid gold.
