Going W I D E, need some help!

When I bought my 79 RX-7 back in 2003, it alread yhad the Mazda Factory Racing Mk3 GTU IMSA Widebody kit on it, with the MFR IMSA High Whale Tail.

That car has been gone for over a year now, and I'm realizing that I miss the feeling of having that widebody look, and the functionality of it.

I'm looking into buying either the full Mariah GTU widebody kit, or something similar, and have a couple questions about attaching it. The yachts I work on, all use "Marinetex" adhesive when doing any fiberglass repairs/molding. It's stronger than concrete, but reasonably heavy. The weight from the adhesive isn't of *that* much importance, I figured I should mention it, though.

Also... one thing that I'm intrigued about, while being around these boats... is it possible/reasonable to paint the entire car with the same gelcoat that they use for these multi-million dollar yachts? The shine from them is almost untouchable by paint, and while they do show imperfections, it's not anywhere as bad as paint.

I dunno... I think it would be a nice touch to roll up to the jobsite with a gleaming white, widebody 85 RX-7... sort of a rolling display for my yacht detailing business.

Then put your 4-rotor in it?

:)

The Marine industry uses tough stuff, but I wouldn't use anything without first checking it's chemical compatibility with the 'glass Mariah uses.

Mariah has to have some very strong attachement methods for their wild wing things. Contact and query them. Don't they come gel-coated?

If you do uncover some revolutionary new way to 'glass cars using marine stuff, please let us know.
