Fuel System question regarding Filter/Pump
Alright, I've got a 15 GAL fuel cell in my Street car. i was running a small inline Mesh screen fuel filter which is good for nothing.. I have now purchased a large frame mount style fuel filter. As it stands, my fuel system was like this :
6-AN from tank into small 6-an Filter (which will now act as a prefilter) To my MSD pump, and from there 6-an to the motor. As much as i'd like to have the easy access to the filter from the engine bay, i was thinking about mounting underneath before the pump. I was worried about alot of pressure drop due to the filter if it was infront of the pump. Does that sound about right? Now lets say that under a hard corner, my fuel pick up didnt reach any fuel for whatever reason, would this large filter act as a type of reserve? The reason i ask is this is acutally a Circle Track Tank, which originally had a right corner pick up, but for that reason i relocated it to the center. The rank is filled with the foam, however there is no sump. Now looking back, i know i should have gotten a different style tank, but its a bit too late now. let me know your thoughts! Thanks |
With the fuel line size that you have you will not have any problems provided you do not have a whole bunch of 90 deg fitting to create back pressure and pressure drop. The filter will not act as a reservoir sorry to say if the pick up suck air then air is what you will get.
