fuel cell in a 1st gen
 

I have a 82 model "s"

full tII swap in progress with 60-1/to4e turbo.
autopower race roll cage
Recaro clone racing seats, simpson harness.
Springs, shox, roll bars and poly bushings
Kosie k1 wheels sith kuhmo tires

The engine is in the car and most everything is hooked up, minus the haltech, the exhaust and the fuel system.

My stock "s" gas tank is small, with small piping and no baffeling. My options are to install a Gsl-se tank or a fuel cell.

What are my options for mounting the fuel cell,

I would like to use the stock fuel filler but I think that would be difficult to set up.

What about mounting a tank in the stock location and having a the fuel door under the carpet in the back. shouldnt be too hard.

I could live with that, but Im worried about possible static eletricity. Is static a problem with the polyethylene tanks.

also, do you run the return line to the top port or the second bottom port?

I just took the tank out of the car. It looks like it will fit up there really easy. But, filling it will be tricky. The spare tire is screwing it up.

I think I could possibly run a hose to the filler door and use the stock filler. The hose would be slightly squished but I think it could work.

Wow, the price went up on it. I bought the same one and sent it back cause its no good for road racing/street use IMHO. Its a drag cell and if you get bumped from behind the exposed lines could shear off, that would be bad. I cut out the spare tire well to fit mine. Itll take some doing but itll fit. Oh wait , I had the 12 gal one sorry, but theres room down there if you cut out the well. Forget about using the stock filler, its too low to start with.

As far a static, just run a ground strap to the body to keep the electrical potential equal. And the trap door for a filler is the way to go.

Where I want to place the tank I am sure I can use the stock filler. I have to cut a hole in the rear frame under the floorpan to run a hose. I plan on mounting the tanks under the tire well. That way I have space for the filler neck and the vent lines and everything.

My car sits so low that I am no worried about the fuel lines. But I might make a guard just in case.
