Front brakes keep locking up after new front pads
Heres the deal....I got a track day coming up on the 8th..so I purchased some new HawkPlus pads for the front.....
The stock backs have like 40% left on them... Now I have had my ABS removed and the car has been braking fine before I did the new pads..NOWWW :) the fronts love to lock up and I have to modulate the pedal pressure way to much..Before I had to really really get on them to cause lockup, now it happens way to early in the pedal travel.. I now have my balancer cranked all the way to the rear but still the problem is horrible and I will not track my car like this.. any help would be great...thanks guys |
your tires. tires play important part of braking. afterall. those 4 peace of black thing . are the only contect area between ground and car.
So find a better tires |
ahhhhhhhhh good point..they are suppose to be somewhat decent though...
hmmm |
If all was fine and all you did was change the front pads there's your problem. Just because there is friction material left on the rear pads doesn't mean the pads are healthy. They can still glaze and harden as they age or if they were overheated. I would replace the rear pads as well before I started hunting for a problem that doesn't exist.

It is important to buy matched pads. If anything on FDs guys use more agressive pads on the rear.

Are your front hubs leaking grease onto the rotors? Grease on your rotors will actually cause the brakes to lock very easily.
|
ok cool..im gonna buy some more grippy pads for the rears...

thats my current brake system with the balancer...I have read (though there seems to be little info) that guys use the balancer on the fronts not the rears..but i thought that was something you would only do when running HUGE front brakes.... |
