Ford9 question... what is the strongest?

i'm looking at upgrading my rear end with a ford 9.

i just wanted to get an opinion from anyone here that uses a ford 9" rear end - what is the most recommended LSD type/locking differential (i.e. Detroit TrueTrac, Zexel Torsen) for use on the street and the 1/4 mile?

thanks guys.

A Ford 8.8" will work much better.

It will take all the torque a rotary can make and sucks a lot less power than a 9"

The 8.8 kinda sucks because it's a C-clip design... however the strength of the 9" is its weakness - the pinion gear has a bearing on BOTH ends of the gear, not just on the nose end like practically all other diffs. (I can't think of any other diff that does, actually) However, this extra bearing takes away room for the diff. LSD's for the 9" generally only have one clutch pack, on the ring gear side of the diff where there's room for it. The Detroit Locker was invented pretty much to make up for this deficiency - no clutches to slip and allow one tire to spin.

The 8.8" is a more standard setup and allows plenty of room for a standard differential.

I personally wouldn't consider a 9" unless a spool was acceptible.
