FD dying slow death in SS at Nationals

The FD did very well in SM2, won the class. But the lone FD in SS is 43rd out of 46 after the first day. And his times would have put him about the same place, if not even lower, in AS.

Take this with a great big crunchy grain of salt since I'm not there but knowing the guys I have competed against often who are there I would expect to be no better than 28th or 30th after Day 1...

My goal has always been to be midpack against the Z06's when talent is present and it doesn't look like I would have done it.

Typically there is a "fast" course and a "technical" course. I would expect to close the gap some on the "fast" course since the technical course is tighter and the Z06 leaves me out of slow corners. When I can stay in it I can run close to them. If they're on the technical course for Day 1 I would expect to maybe jump up a couple spots after Day 2. Or maybe not. I'm completely talking out of my ass since I'm not there doing it.

Well add in the fact that the lone FD was running on Hoosiers ... thus, being even slower than the V710-shod cars.

Unfortunately, the North (technical) and South (fast) courses both favored cars with big torque to come out of the corners. The fast offset and slalom sections were wide enough that the FD's size advantage was negated. Well, keep writing your letters folks.
