FB: What brake pads for auto-x?
I am running gsl-se front brakes and a gsl rear, and was wondering what are the best pads to run for auto-x. I was thinking of either carbotech bobcats or the panther xp9s.
Thanks |
For autocrossing, you want pads that heat up quickly and are effective right out of the start. I have never used the ones you mention, but I use cheap Axxis MetalMasters which seem to work just fine.

I used the bobcats in my WRX, and they were pretty good for initial bite, that's why I was leaning towards them. The car is going to be run in E-Mod, and will have a 350 hp V8, so I will definitely need a good "whoa" pedal.

i run the hawk hp+ pads all the way around. they have excellent initail bite, little sensative to lock up if you don't modulate your braking a little once heated up fully though.
Hawks hp+... they are so good... they lock up your brakes pretty easily too.
HP+ gets very noisy for street driving... sounds like an 18 wheeler trying to stop
Not worried about noise, as this will primarily be used for auto-x.
I run Hawk HP+ on the street in my FD, and they are good cold and hot. Mine aren't noisy.
I tried the Carbotech Bobcats and they were poor for fast street driving. Threw them away even though they were barely worn, that is how much I disliked them. |
I've ran both Hawks and EBC. I don't know if you can get EBC for FBs, but I prefer them over stockers or Hawks on my FD.
Anyone try Carbotech Panther Plus or XP8 for auto-x and/or daily driving?
get hawk and dont look back. Have them in my SRT-4 and it kicks ass.
