I am putting a Torsen unit in mt FB and I was wondering if I can use the 90w I have with limited slick addaitive in it? I just have a couple extra quarts around and it wiould just be easier.
Thanks JEB

Ok, I have another question for you all.

I am putting a Miata Torsen in my FB and I measured and the drave shaft which will NOT just bolt up to the third member.

So, what do I need to do to change the drive shaft flange?
Will I be changing the backlash, since I am using a part different from what was there?
Do I need to pull the whole thing apart and get a new crush bearing?

What are your thoughts?

Why not keep the driveshaft and bolt the Torsen carrier into the FB pumpkin?

Also, use your 90w oil but don't worry about the additive. It's not needed with a Torsen.

The drive shaft flange on the Torsen will not bolt up to my Rx7 drive shaft...

I think Chris meant that you take the torsen unit & bolt just it to your original ring gear. You end up keeping your original ring gear & pinion. Then you will be able to use your original driveshaft.

Yes.

The only other solution is to use a custom driveshaft with the correct flange for the miata's pinon and a yoke that fits your tranny.

C. Ludwig's solution is probably the easiest (in terms of parts you have on hand) and the cleanest. Problem is you gotta know how to setup a rear end. Something I have never attempted...

I did exactly what Chris is suggesting, in my 25 hour car.
