Hi guys
Just recently fitted a Mezier EWP and new Davies Craig controller. What are people's water temps when driving? I'm having to block over 1/2 the rad off to try and get temps up to mid 80's. I have only just started running a new engine in so revs only upto 3500 and no boost. It water temps are not stable.

Anybody else having the same issues?

Cheers Mark

Do you have pictures of the install?

Yes running a v mount set up you can see how much of the rad is blocked off. You can 't see the pump as it's mounted out the way. New Davies Craig controller mounted in car and set to to run at 90 degrees

One of the rad blocked off

I'm not having issues, but I have a 20b w/ FMIC and I also haven't blocked off the bypass port. After blocking the bypass port we'll see if it gets any cooler. Maybe you need to raise your threashold on the fan controller?

Ok cheers I have set the controller at 95 degrees now so will see what happens. What is yours set to?
Cheers Mark

Sorry, don't have any experience, but I do have a question. Who made the side alternator mount?

marky. 06-08-15 03:35 PM

The bracket was made by a machining shop here in the uk. Couldn't find anything available for the FD front cover as most were for the FC front cover

My application is a bit different since my radiator is rear mounted, but I would set your threshold higher.

marky. 06-09-15 12:44 PM

Would you got to 100 degrees then?

marky. 06-09-15 04:14 PM

Just been out again tonight and set controller to 95 then to the Max at 100. Cruising along at 60-70 with an air temp of around 13 degrees the water temps range from 70ish to 80. When at a stop they rise slowly to 90 but once moving again drop quickly to 70 and sometimes lower. Don't know what else to do apart from block more of the rad off, there is only about 200mm left of open fins now?

Anybody have any ideas at all?

Cheers Mark

Are you running a thermostat?

You don't run a thermostat with these.

Where is your water temp sensor placed?

marky. 06-13-15 11:45 PM

The water temp sensor is placed at the front of the engine on the outlet pipe around where the original thermostat would be

TeamRX8 06-14-15 10:42 AM

It has nothing to do with the fan set point.

At 13*C/55*F air temp even on my Renesis RX8 with 83*C/180*F T-stat, OE radiator, & OE water pump it will run about the same temp as yours when cruising. I'd say it's normal with low air temperature and low engine load when there is air moving across the radiator.

marky. 06-14-15 03:11 PM

Will have to see when I've finished running the motor in and see what happens when it's run with some boost. Hopefully can take some of the blanking plates off

So a bit of a thread revival lol.
How is everybody getting on now with there EWP set ups? Any info or feedback at all?
Is it just case my mezier pump (55gpm) is pumping too much water through as I believe the DC 150 pump flows at (39.63gpm)
Is anyone else having to block off their radiator at all?
Thanks Mark

Read this good info on installing a thermostat that should help you

Ok thanks will do

I have been in touch with Davies Craig and they have advised the pump is pumping too much water hence the cool temps. They have said to block off one of my ally water pipes and then drill 2 5 mm holes in the plate for the water to be restricted and it will be a case of trial and error now, may need a few more holes to stabilise the temps and restrict flow slightly

Not sure if right thread, but has anyone verified the temp calibration on the Craig Davies EWP and the stock water temp sensor?
The location of my EWP temp sensor is on the outlet neck (where the cap goes and where you install the thermostat)
So essentially ~4" from the stock temp sensor on the back of the water pump. You can see both sensors.
The thermostat is bypassed.

The EWP sees higher temps, about 20 degrees more or so.
I am using the stock water temp sensor and calibration on the adaptronic.

Earlier today testing, below were the temps
EWP water temp 200*F
Stock water temp 180*F
Oil Pedestal Temp ~160*F
Ambient Temp ~60*F

The problem is the EWP alarm goes off at about 200*F, before my fans even come on.
