Ever use one of these?
Just curious if anyone has used either of these with any success on a rotary?

Their print says "no significant back pressure introduced."
Insignificant back pressure to a 6 liter piston motor may be very significant to a 1.3 liter rotary. |
We tried to use one in our 20B car - too much back pressure. :P
We threw it in the trash... -Ted |

We threw it in the trash... -Ted Yep but what kind of results Ted? I mean how much hp do you think was lost? Was the 20b NA or turbo? Did it quiet the exhaust? There may be a use for this depending on the application. Edit: Oh yea, which one did you use? The cone one or the black one? |
We used a 3" cone right after an inline muffler used as a pre-silencer.
The 20B was NA - no turbos - exhaust was 3" straight through all the way back. There was a *slight* drop in noise - maybe 3dB. The Haltech E6K needed to be adjusted to get the car to run good afterward - approximately 10% of fuel needed to be pulled out, as the car ran richer afterward, which implies that engine VE decreased. :( -Ted |
I ordered the 3" cone from Summit. It should be here today. I plan on using it in the muffler exit seeing my exhaust doesn't collect until just before the muffler anyway. The engine is stock (6 port FI 13B). The exhaust is; RB Race header & Street port center section capped off with a Dynomax Ultra Flow 6" round 3" IN/OUT. I'll try to get a DB reading before and after, but HP results will be strictly butt dyno. :-)
