ethanol conversion
other than higher fuel flow, is there anything else I need to do to convert my 7 to burn ethanol?
I don't think any of the metals it corodes are in the fuel/air system. I just want to be sure. |
no body has ever run ethanol? 35% oxygen 115 octane and no one has run with it?
|
ask in the first gen section. I think a few people in there run it or know about it.
|
There's one guy in my club with a turbo FB that loves it although I believe he's still tweaking his carb run properly.
|
I want to run it with the stock, although modified fuel injection. I was going to try to increase the fuel flow with a fuel pump and adjustable fuel regulator first, as well as adjust the MAF, since I only need about a 30% bump. if that doens't do it then I will buy new injectors.

You need more than a 30% bump, it is close to double the fuel requirements to run methanol.

wouldnt that cause a problem while fireing....since the lower the octain the easer it is to ignite in the engine...so if the octain is so high it wouldnt burn quite as good and flood or some bs like that....does this not apply when burning ethanol....note im just thinking about the threads about lower and higher octain jibber jabber

more octane means it takes more energy to ignite it which is what you want in an engine with forced induction - it prevents detonation. its also nice for na engines too because it needs less oxygen for a given volume to burn than gas, so you can shove more in at one time = more power.

I still have no real answers.
