Engine leaks coolant when warm...
 

Okay, if you saw my other thread you may know where this is going. I have a 13BT (Series IV) that is starting/idling/revving fine with an AEM EMS. But when it warms up the car is pissing coolant out the exhaust... I emailed my engine builder who said:

Since the car last actually ran, I performed the "throttle body mod" ... and it's possibly I screwed that up. Or that the intake gasket(s) have failed over the years of this car going together and coming apart.

Anybody have any ideas where we should look/check?

Are you sure its coolant and not condensed water vapor?

I would definitely check the throttle body/IAC/etc that you might have blocked off or could otherwise be leaking.
Questions I would have are:
do you have a pronounced miss in the engine?
have you pulled the plugs after running to see if the rotor looks "wet" or smells of coolant?

pressure test cooling system. just about every mechanic has the tester set.

Hey Don, I've still not personally heard this motor start (even though it was built in 2004), so the only details I have are "internal coolant leak" and "coolant out the exhaust." These guys should know the difference between water vapor and condensation. Although, the dyno shop claimed to know how to build rotaries on their webpage, but push-to-shove and now they "don't know much about them."

The shop is going to pull all the intake and throttle body stuff and check the turbo as well... for a water-cooled turbo is it possible to lose a seal there and puke water in to the intake?

I threw out the idea of the pressure testing, we'll see if they give it a shot. Hopefully it really is something simple after all.

Well unfortunately I know very few people out in the Bay these days, but if you were closer I would be glad to help. Sorry for the slow response. Yesterday was super busy at work. Right now they're committed to pulling the throttle body and intake as Daryl suggested, so we'll see if they find anything there, if not I'll move on to next steps if that works for you? They're not going to get to it until next week some time...

Okay, shop found a pinched intake gasket... which led me to wondering why I even have coolant running up to the intake any more since I removed all that crap from the throttle body. They say the turbo is getting water from up there... that seems less than ideal to me... can somebody throw some pictures up of a better way to run the water through the turbo? Please? Thanks!

Please? We're really struggling with this. The car seems cursed since the build started over a decade ago...
