Engine Bay - Adhesive Heat Wrapping
 

Hey guys

I have the engine out now in my FD and was wondering what your thoughts are on lining the turbo side of the engine bay with adhesive backed heat shielding. My down pipe is stainless steel wrapped in DEI titanium and my manifold + turbo hot side were ceramic coated (no heat wrap).

- Is it necessary? I have the original bolt on heat shield near the trans still. Does the inner shock / wheel-well get cooked even with a single turbo setup?

- Does this stuff last or need replacing often?

- Is there a better solution? Thoughts / Ideas?

Since your hot components are already ceramic coated I wouldn't bother. Putting heat reflective material opposite the parts or on the firewall will just reduce the transmission of heat to inside the wheel well or the cabin. There are different levels of quality to the material as you can imagine. I use this to reflect heat away from my ITB setup:
