Earl's or Aeroquip?
 

Okay...so this is partially race related.
But thought I would ask.

Earl's or Aeroquip? And why?

I'm going to purchase some lines/hoses...and thought I would ask
to see which brand you guys prefer. Or if there is a reason one is better than
the other in terms of product offering.

Earl's for no other reason than they are easier to assemble.

Aeroquip because they've been around for a 100 years or so, and almost every town with an airport has a local dealer. Hint#1( look in the back of their catalog in the commerical stuff because it the same but cheaper)

Hint...go find a local industrial hydraulic hose vendor.

Hint...use teflon hose, especially if you plan on using race gas.

Hint...use as much hard line as possible.

Hint... Swivel fittings are da Bomb :D
Other than that, I've used the Summit AN fittings in my racecar, quality seems the same but the Aeroquip has better swivel "system".
Price is the determening factor.

I prefer Earl's. The hose ends are easier to assemble and seem less delicate. Check out ANPlumbing.com . They have pictures of virtually every Earl's part, so it is very easy to find what you are looking for.

essentially the same. price and availability would be my reason for one over the other. luckily I know a great aircraft surplus place that has aeroquip for about half the normal retail price.

There are other brands too....such as XRP (w/ Ti blah blah blah).
Just doing some research. Was flipping through the pages of Race Car Engineering magazine and came across their advertisement.

A bit confused about the McMaster comment. Should I just use industrial grade hoses/fittings as opposed to "race" or "automotive" grade stuff? A lot of "automotive" grade stuff is the same as "aviation" grade stuff.

Earls, XRP, and Aeroquip are all high quality AN fittings. They will perform well in any application- you should just consider price when purchasing. If you should need any lines or fittings- feel free to contact me directly.

One of them also offers the same fittings in black nickel and silver finishes, which is a selling point for me. I'm against making my fuel/oil lines the centerpiece of my engine with bright flashy colors. :D

Avoid the steel industrial fittings, because they are heavy.

from 1st hand exp. with almost every brand of fittings out there I agree with the people who have stated pricing and availability are what should sway your decision. if you can afford it go with the fiber braided ultra lite hose as appossed to stainless braid, its lighter it doesn't chew up everything it touches and it is more than tuff enough to handle almost every application it used for.

personally I use goodridge whenever possible...they have the largest selection of styles including many metric to AN adapters and are very well priced, also if you don't want to fuss with it they will custom build you any line at a very resonable cost.

also watch Ebay there are always lots of overstock being sold for pretty good prices.

i work on naval aircraft and have up to 3500psi surges and 3000psi constant through out hydraulic lines. we use nothing but aeroquip.
