drag race requirements for relocating battery

I'm not sure if I should be asking here but here goes....

Last year when I drag raced my car, I had the bettery in the trunk in a summit racing battery box. They said I had to put it back in the engine bay or not race. The tech inspector told me I had to have a sealed box.

Now, my real question is if I could use my storage bins as a sealed box. Does anyone know NHRA requirments?

I'm not shure about a sealed box part, but I was told by the guys at Woodburn that I needed to have a cut off switch in the back of the car. Or something that could dissconect the power. CJ

Down here in LA, there is not a problem with battery relocation. If I’m not mistaken, if you’re in the 12 sec class, then you will need to have a battery cut-off in back of the car.

Here’s a new one:
According to the tech guys at California Speedway, the new NHRA rule indicates that the fuel line cant be on top or parallel to the bell housing. Since I have a 1st gen with a 13b sp and 48 ida, I argued that the fuel line is in its stock location. Therefore, its legal. To make the long story short, he let me drag but he recommends to move the lines away from the bellhousing. Anyone heard of this new rule?

I havent worked on it but my plan is to cut the lines (below the master cylinder). Drill a hole in each side of the cawl compartment. Run a steel braided fuel lines and mount my fuel pressure regulator on the passenger side strut area. Any other ideas??

you can put your battery in the storage box BUT you must have tour battery in a SFI approved battery box.... no matter where you put it .. also anytime you relocate the battery you must have a cut-off switch in the back of the car...
