Lapping Day
 

Finally got a decent exterior photo of the now complete car.

Here is a video of it running on lapping day last Friday.

Specs this day:
11lbs Boost
1200cc Primary Injectors
1600cc Seconary Injectors
Megasquirt II V3.0 Fuel Controller

There is one large problem now (other than the syncros on my tranny are gone)...shortly after this video was taken, I went out for one last run and I think the rear iron let go. :crying: I pumped 7qt's of oil out between the rear iron and the bellhousing. I just got the car home and it may be a few weekends before I get to look at it. :goodrebuild:

S4 Oil Pedestal Issues
 

Back from the dead!

I finally got a chance to tear down the race engine. I clamped it all together using turnbuckles and the intake manifold so that I wouldn't disturb the other seals and gaskets.

Got the rear iron off and the oil pedestal dowel pin boss cracked. To be expected I suppose.

Other than that, the engine looks to be in decent shape. no signs of other wear. I'm going to port another Iron and slap it back together.

Just read through this thread and wanted to say very nice job rescuing a total basket case of a FB!

In the end, I would have changed some things but you always do no matter what...right?

So how did your suspension choices work out? Are you happy with the spring rates in the front?

you know, i really like the way it is set up right now. I haven't really pushed into the corners yet other than what is seen on the videos.

The largest problem right now is that the suspension is too soft for the wheels to stick out of the wells. they rub the factory steel and I will have to stiffen it up so it doesn't do that anymore.

As the track isn't the smoothest, having a little cushion is nice. it holds the corners over the bumps!

Could you take a close-up picture of the closing top corner of your intake port as shown in the picture? There appears to be a wear scratch on it from the side seals? I usually square that corner off more for that reason.

I was worried that the trailing end of the side seal might catch on the closing side of the port as shown using the template below.

I'm a little lost here. I see what your saying in your attachment but I would have to say that it is possible that the side seal will better in a rounded closure?

Not sure if I understand correctly...

Here are the tracks of the side seals on the plate. The closing side of the port should be straight till the seal has scissors completely back onto the plate. (at taught by Judge ITO and Lynn Hanover)
