Which class to race in?
Which class do the majority of 1st gen owners race in? Im looking to build a real time attack (it'll be classless) car, but before the engine goes in, i'd like to run it with the OG 13b. So, mostly stock engine with good brakes and suspension.

Might want to check out SCCA and NASAproracing web sites for their classes and other info.
Might also want to check out this: http://goaheadtakethewheel.com/Home_Page.html |
the SCCA ITS class is for 1st gen GSL-SE with 13B motors. You must use the GSL-SE brakes. Springs and shocks are free.

There are proposals to do away with the VIN requirement but nothing has been passed as of yet. The best way to pick a class is to read the rules - www.scca.com All of the rule books are available for download free of charge. This includes Club Racing, Solo II and PDX-Time Trials rules. |
IIRC, the VIN requirement has been retracted, so that you may use any equivalent chassis in your car, regardless of what "model" it came out of. As an example, you may now use a T2 shell to build up an NA ITS car, as long as there are no parts that were unique to the T2 (eg. transimission, diff, etc).

I run my 1st gen in Nasa's PTC and TTC classes. It has a 12a though. I used to run it in scca's ITA class but then did a street port and a dog-box and some other minor things that make it illegal in IT.
