Which Carbotech pad for daily driving + auto-x?

For my 2850lb REPU. Which luckily enough uses 1st gen 81-85 pads so selection is great.

But which carbotech pad to use? 95% daily driving, 4% auto-x, and 1% HPDE (may do Mazfest next year).

Their website says Bobcat version is best for DD + auto-x but no HPDE. And Panther Plus good for auto-x + light HPDE but not for street.

My buddy uses XP8's on his GSL-SE, which sees similar use as mine but a more track days (7 per year). And that thing stops GREAT. No squeal or cold brake fade on the street he said too.

But looking for other input.

We installed a set of Bobcat pads on a customer's MR2 and he has been very pleased with them in the roll you describe. If you do an HPDE swap in something more agressive. There really isn't a pad that will do both daily driving and HPDEs. It's going to work well for one and be severly compromised for the other.

I was planning on running the panther plusses on my V8 FB. It will be used primarily for auto-x and some nice day driving.

You will get squealing on the street (from a cold pad trying to brake). You'll be better off with the Bobcats for those roles.

Where is the best place to buy Carbotech pads?

I've had good luck with these guys:

http://dpeweb.com/

They sponsor a HPDE that I assist at. While they don't have everything listed on their site yet, they can get just about anything if you just tell them what you are a looking for... They had a ton of Carbotech pads in as that's what they mainly deal in as far as brake pads.

Nice, thanks Mahjik

Best place to buy them? http://www.carbotecheng.com of course! :)

I would also suggest Bobcats for your application.

I'd go with XP8-9, they work fine on the street, and aere worlds ahead of dual use pads on the track. That said they will dust more than street pads. Honestly, I think I would use an EBC pad for the street, this is for the following reasons;
- no dust during street use
- no discernable rotor wear on street
- excellent for AX
- no fade on track, but wears very quickly at HPDEs.

I really liked the EBC greens on my Supra on the street, and AX, however I ran through them in 8 20 minute HPDE sessions. A great street pad. I run XP10 pads on both my street, and track cars, but they dust quite a bit compared to a street pad. Carbotech XP8/9 for a more track oriented pad, and EBC green for primarily street IMHO.
