Sounds good. Maybe add Alcohol Injection.

What kind of track experience do you have?

Then I'd recommend something better than KSport coilovers

the k sport coil over aren't too bad there good for th street but i think i would find tem a little to soft for the track..i was looking in to come tein circuit masters, do you have any good suggestions?

gracer7-rx7 11-05-09 04:02 PM

For full on track use, no I don't. Tein seems to have an extensive product offering though. I'd do some research on rebuild and revalve costs.

I use revalved Koni adjustables with Gound Control coilover kit and like it. I can swap inexpensive Eibach 2.5" D racing springs inexpensively and the shocks are decent for my level of driving.

In the end, it all depends on what your budget and goals are.

I know a guy who runs ksport coilovers on his PT-E ford probe racecar. He's very fast, one of the best in his class in the region. Of course he's pretty cheap, he has a bolt in cage and welded stock seat! This is an expensive project, don't half-ass the suspension.

You should keep the AST, it serves an important function. Just replace it with a metal one that won't fail.

I don't see anything about safety gear on there. What are you doing for seats/harnesses/rollcage? That shopping list will add up to a very fast car, you should go for a full custom cage IMO.

forgot about that i do ave a cusco bolt in cage for the car as well as a recaro spg seat and willans harnesses, i am thinkign about doing a weld in cage as my dads rx7 and my civic are going for one soon

Gene 11-06-09 09:06 PM

Yeah do the weld in... did you see this thread?

Sounds very close to what my compadre, Conroy Ganson runs out west in Alberta.
I believe he's got the tein dampers in his FD. Do a search on 4Kruzn. We both raced at the Edmonton Indy GT race and he's done a bit of drifting with that FD.
From our experience road racing, the GT35R is hard to beat for power + fast spool. As well, tires make a huge difference. If you have to run DOT tires get the hoosiers. They outstick the toyos quite dramatically. (they are almost as good as the Yokohama A005 slicks we run).
As well, you need a cage to really take the car to the next level and eliminate all chassis flex.
Also think about replacing the transmission. We were breaking 3rd gear about every year in the stock FC and FD gearboxes.
Wheels he uses are Enkei rpf-1 17x9.5 up front and 18x10.5 out back. Slicks are 260/650/17 front and 280/680/18 out back.

I'm the 2008 and 2009 Speedway Time Attack champion in Alberta in my FC
I run a 400+ rwhp, 2300 lbs, Yokohama slicks, a geforce dog gearset T5 with a Garret Gt35r.
Last event I was 2 seconds a lap faster than a Porsche GT3 with Pilot cup tires on it.
The only reason I beat the FD is the geforce gear ratios are perfect for our track. At the Indy the FD beat me pretty bad. He did have more boost though. Bigger tires too.

Hope this helps,
-Trent

WHat kind of time attack are you talking about?

Solo??

Check the canadian section, some ppl have some very fast FD's at the local tracks that are driven to and from the track.

Gene 11-12-09 09:07 PM

What's the purpose of all the little holes around the turbo inlet?

Also you should consider ducting the intake rather than letting it inhale all that hot air straight off the heat exchangers.

Looks like your well on your way to building a nice track car Andrew, with a good tune and suspension it should be fun…. we will more then likely hook up at some point.
