Yea i made it to be functional not to win a beauty contest.

Not an expert on the subject, but wont that snap your neck in half if you had a bad crash? If not looks good but I would still mount it on the passenger seat just to be sure. Have you seen the way seats move in a big crash?

LHD = he DID mount it on the passenger side.....

I imagine that would pass tech...

Tech shouldn't be a problem, but you might want to consider something higher, I've tried a similar setup once with http://www.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=912860
The results were ok, but you have a hard time seeing the cones with this setup.

Here are some videos as reference. the results were much better and you can actually see where you are going. In addition, having a rubber/urthane dampener helped reduced the vibs a bit.

My advice, mount your camera as high as you can, because our cars are so low, it will give you the best vantage point.

oh yeah, also to add that my current mounting technique will only work for smaller cameras, the ioport mount is being used upside down and a bigger camera will hit the rollbar.

what options do i have for a vert ???

i m not too sure about a mount like that ...
just make sure you dont hit any of your body part aginst it ...

It will probably shake around too much. Most seats I've grabbed have a little play in the adjustment system and when you figure that play is pivoting about 2 feet away from the camera it will show up when you hit any bump.

On the other hand a little camera shake is good to let you know if you hit the apex/curbing!

You can reduce the shaking if you have someone in that seat while you are recording, I will try to upload something that shows my footage with the cruisecam, but the angle is still not optimal

I use a standard tripod. Two legs in the hatch area, and one resting on the center console cover. Then I use three bungee cords to hold it down. This allows a high angle so you can really see over the hood. I've taken a lot of video with it, and it looks great. Haven't had the time to edit and upload anything yet though.

A safety stewart got on my case about doing that. I was told my camcorder had to be bolted to something, but this is what I found so YMMV:
