Camber for khumos - autocross
 

Hi Folks,
I have an FB with a setup from Jim Susko. Because of the way my camber/caster plates I only get 1 degree of negative camber.

What camber settings do you use to autocroos?

I know the Hooseier like -2 or more, so I am wondering what you use for Khumos?

why do you only have 1 degree? You should be able to get more from camber plates. I ran 13" 215/50/13 v710s and used 2 degrees negative with pretty good result. Part of that will be dependent on your spring rate too though, and I was using 375lb/in.

Do you not have coil-overs?
You can slot the 4 holes in the top of the strut towers to increase camber.
If you have coil-overs with camber tops you should be able to get between -2 and -2.5.

Yes, I do have coilovers and camber caster plates. The camber/caster plates have a sliter to control camber. The nuts on the slider hit the edge of the sheet metal strut hole. SCCA will not allow you to mod the hole. Some folks will mount the camber /caster plate on a spacer which allows the slider to move more. I have not do that yet; I can.

My real question is what is the optimal camber for the 710s.

hum... I'm curious which camber plates you are running, you should be able to get more than 1 degree with plates. To answer your question, I have had good luck with 2 degrees of negative, but that is with the rest of the suspension set the way it is.

I believe the answer you are looking for is: It depends. Spring rate, tire pressure, roll center, etc. affect the tire's performance. The only way to find the optimal camber and pressure is to log tire temps in 3 spots across the tread. Reference the following article for in-depth information regarding tire temps:
