Cage/Door bar question.........

Is there a set rule as how high the door bar needs to be? I'm asking because, as you can imagine a higher door bar makes it harder to get it.

Car is used to for drag racing.

I'm 6'2 @ 280 lbs so I need all the help I can get......... :rlaugh:

IIRC (lots of rulebooks floating around in my head today) somewhere between the elbow and below the armpit for NHRA.

The rule is specific. While driver is in sitting position and hands on the wheel, the bar must pass between the elbow and shoulder. Does not say what angle or plane or if bar needs to be straight or with bends. If you go by the picture it must be straight, if you go by the rules, ? My local Division 6 tech likes to see the bar straight, but a bent bar is legal!

I would recommend using a swing out bar then. I am 6'2" 2fity. I know what is is like.
I sit in all of mu customers cars to make sure I have room and some are tough. With the swing out you can even take the door bar out while driving it on the street to make it easier. It is NHRA lega and you can get a chassis certification sticker with swing outs from www.cachassisworks.com , about $80 per side.

Post a pic when you are done. I would like to see how it turns out. Not much room with the 3rd gens door panels!

See pics below.
