most of my local performance stores carry RCI equipment.
it's the economy brand of safety gear but still meets all NHRA and FIA standards.
I can vouch for the quality of their helmets and harnesses.

I like to go local when I can and try stuff on. That is hard to do in the NYC area though.

I am not looking for a full suit. Mainly just shoes, helmet, and gloves.

Try on everything you're interested in at a local retailer then shop for the best price online. I tried on gloves at the CDOC trailer at Petit, figured out my size then found them on ebay for a song.

OG has some closeout deals you can not beat right now.

Racers wholesale is another one.

Crow racing is also a great sourse for the budget minded.

Then there is summit, Jegs and Jaz all good deals

LPI Racing carries Simpson, Momo, Crow, and Sparco. We're getting great deals on Momo right now. And We own and run an RX7, so that should count for something.

I know the brick and mortar vendors hate guys like me but I've bought my last 3 used SFI/5 race suits on Ebay. I also bought my new SA2010 helmet, SFI gloves, SFI window net, SFI new fueling apron, fuel cell.... etc, etc, all on Ebay. You have to be patient and spend some time searching but that's where the deals are. Another good place is to find the circle track swap meets/garage sales... half the parts on my race car are used and/or obsolete stock car parts.

If in the Northeast you should contact Bob Zecca at Driving Impressions. He has driving gear packages which include everything you need to get out on track at a very good price. He is also very knowledgeable with regard to driver safety, so if you have any questions he is willing to help. He helped me with a driver's suit and helmet for my competition school a few years back.

They have a storefront in Dover, NJ and at NJMP in Millville, NJ. Big supporter of SCCA and the Pro-IT series.
