Azenis 615 Vs. Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212
 
Which one should I use on my 2280 lbs FC in the 205/50/15 size. Wet traction doesn't matter. Wear almost does. Weight does. Turn in feel does. Overall grip does. Auto X track will be in Nashville TN, probably over 60 seconds and will have speeds around 65 mph. Suggestions?

2280? You are my hero! I'm at 2473lbs, still Street Touring S-2 legal.

Falkens grip better if you've only got a 205 to work with, and the 'kooks need to be shaved.

I am currently running the 225/45-16 Hankook on a 16x7.5" wheel, if that matters. I would really like to switch to the Falkens, if you catch my drift......

Go with 615's. As much as I love the r-s2's I think the 615's have more grip, they might not last as long tho, im not sure. So far the hankooks have had good wear on my S13.

OMG! I'm your hero! Teach me to drive! Thanks so much for responding! I will get the Falkens. I had been wondering about the grip levels of the hankooks but coming from someone with your credentials, I have no choice but to listen. About that weight thingy, I really don't know how the car got so light, but I can say that there is almost nothing left in this car anymore. I bought it out of some crackhead's backyard and the carpet was rotted and the seats and dash and trim were completely sun bleached, so that is all gone down to the metal. No A/C anywhere. No PS. No emissions, extra plastic, steel hood, ducting, heatshields, exhaust, some extra wireing, extra material in the ports, heater hose stuff on the TB, There is more of this car in the dumpster than there is left on the car. I will be outclassed for sure! Pax is prolly gonna look really bad. However, there is more weight to lose. Going to 5 lug hubs, 4 piston ali calipers, vert wheels and Ultrashield seats. Maybe one day: Tubular front crossmember with relocated lower control arm mounting points, Aluminum front hubs (if possible), alternator in the floor, short tube intake manifold, Tiny battery in the back, plastic windows, single exhaust, plastic one piece front end, fenders and hood. I'm obsessed with weight loss (especially unsprung stuffs)and I'm not gonna stop till I have my 10,000 dollar or less Lotus Elise. Okay maybe after everything else I will consider adding in some weight in the form of an LS1/T56 combo. Thanks!!!

The Azenis are faster.

There is one thing to consider though, the RS2's are going to be available in a 225/45/15 in the next few months. If your wheels are wide enough and there's enough room with the offset you've got, and you can wait a bit, then I'd get those. The extra width should make up for the difference in grip and maybe more.

I did see those tires on the Hankook website. The idea is nice, they would look cooler for sure, but......
The grip would have to increase over the Azenis enough to counter the slight increase in weight. The weight for the Proxes RA1 is 23 lbs so I can guess I would gain around 2lbs of rotating weight per tire, maybe slightly less.

My only other concern about the Azenis is the problem of hardening over time due to heatcycles. My old 215s made me mad because after the tread was half gone, the tires were hard as rocks.

The wild card in the deck apears to be the Ecsta MX. Not as grippy, but they don't care about heat and they last FOREVER. Plus, I don't run national events. I might not even be a good enough driver to take advantage of the extra grip on a consistant basis that the Azenis would add.

Then there are those hard launches with my puck clutch and street ported 13B all going through my "glass box" N/A transmission. I would *hate* to hook hard and then frag the box 100 miles from home.

245s Hankooks definately fit on a 16x8 rim. You may be able to fit 245s or at least 235s on a 7.5 inch wide rim if you find a good tire place.

I don't think the Azenis came in 245s, that's why i went with Hankooks, plus they were cheaper. The whole width thiong convulutes the comparison huh. =)
