Avon Tech R tires?
 

Anybody used these yet? The only usable size for the FD is 225/50/16 - stock size - but they look pretty sticky. I've read some good stuff about them on other forums.

I have them for my turbo Miata and LOVE them. I've used Victos and Hoosiers for auotx and feel the Avons are the best autox tire I've ever had. Lots of grip on a variety of surfaces so far.

As soon as my last set of Hoosiers wear out on the ITS car I'll buy a set of Avons for the big track and see how they work there. I am worried about wear issues for roadracing however as they are noticeably softer to the touch than an R3 Hoosier. I keep saying I'm going to durometer the two but never do...

Most of the feedback thus far has been positive. Avons apparently have better acceleration and braking than the Hoosiers but are not quite as good in transitions and lateral grip. However, if the newly re-instated Kumho V710 is as good as the originally released tire ... well, then the Avon (and Hoosier) is kind of a moot point. ;)

I hadn't herd that the V710 was back on the market. It's not legal for SCCA competition yet is it?
