AutoX tire questions

Ok since I'm in set up the car mode I thought I would ask what tires do y'all suggest for AutoX besides Hoosiers. Probably going to be running 275/40 17". I've ran victoracers 2 yrs ago but it was on a different car than my FD and I was impressed with them, but I know they aren't top of the line. Last year I ran RA-1s on my FD and they feel ok if I can get them heated up. I bought these mostly to last the whole year of local autoX(only had 5-6 events, we had some site problems) +2-3 track days, and they have help up and probably have a few more events left in them. I hate to get toyos again because I want to try something different but they have done pretty much everything I've asked of them plus some.

I'm really thinking about running v710's once the toyo's wear out. How do the two compare?? I'm basically trying to find the best tire besides Hoosiers, and from what I've been told by most it is the v710s. Right now the plan is no track days on these tires, but that will probably change once the season rolls around.

Kumho V710 or Hoosier A6 are the only choices IMO if you want the fastest. Wear is surprisingly good on both if they're not abused.

The V710 is much, much faster than the Victoracer. I still like the Victoracer but it doesn't have the stick the current tires do.

I agree with Damon :). From what I found the 710 will wear better then the A6. Autocrossing the A6 is good for around 50 to 60 runs, the 710's I put over 90 runs on them and the still looked good. I sold them to a friend and he ran the rest of the season on them and they are still going.

Hankook Z214

You may also want to consider the Hankook Z214 with the C70 compound.

Grass Roots Motorsports compared R compound tire last year, and the Hankook rated pretty well.

The reason I am considering them is not because I think they are better than the V710, but just because they have a 245/45/15, which Kumho does not.

Kumho does have a 265/45/16. There a little tall (have an old set already) and I haven't decided yet.

I raced 205/40/15 (IIRC) on my miata last year. 5 Race days, and 3-4 practice sessions with a lot of runs. Couldn't be happier with the 710's.

Where have you been able to find these? I can't find info on that size Z214 anywhere.

Hoosier may be putting out a 10" tire for a 15" wheel next March:
