Autocrossing an Rx2

Anyone autocross an Rx2? The emission programs in my area are getting tougher and tougher. So, I am thinking of building my Rx2 to autocross, since I will not have to smog it.

What suspension setup have you used on your Rx2?

Thanks

Someone must have raced an Rx2?!?!

I raced one for several years and all parts are custom made. only performance parts that might be available will likely be used if you can find anything. I built custom struts, modified some 1st gen camber plates, made my own bushings, custom built sway bars, and a welded cage of course. biggest problem I had was the brakes were not up to racing specs and I didn't want to make any more custom parts, so I sold it. it was about as quick as a well prepared ITA car, but I hade a larger and more powerful engine. I would say for a stock type autox class it could be fun, but it is difficult to modify these cars to go real fast. RX2 was not raced as widely as the RX3. RX3 parts are also hard but there are some fans who still have these. you may be able to sell the RX2 and build a newer and better racer with the money. drag racers still like the RX2 since it has a four link type rear suspension. good luckpic of RX2

Tim, that was a sweet looking car. I was thinking of using extra Rx7 camber/caster plates and Rx7 struts.

Do you remember what spring rates you were using?

front springs were very high like 600-650# and for the rear about 300-400#. The RX7 struts don't work exactly but you maybe able to modify them. lot of work for a car that is not any faster than a ist gen RX7(which parts are easy and cheap for).

Ya, but we are getting a new set of smog laws and I just do not want to hassle with them any more. An Rx2 will do this for me.
