Anyone tried the Kumho Ecsta V710?

I am buying new tires for next year. I have used Kumho Victoracers in the past and liked them a lot. They lasted a very long time which I need due to a TIGHT racing budget! I need to get more races out of my tires than most guys I race with. My last set of Victoracers lasted 8 races with practice, qualifying and the race for all 8...that's at least 24 heat cycles...and they were used when I got them! Needless to say, I was very impressed with the long tread life in these tires...but they definitely fell off towards the end. I have spoken to guys that run Toyo's and they say that the Proxes lasts even longer...and stays sticky right down to the cords. I would love to get the new Hoosiers...but they wear out much too quickly for my budget. I was all set to order some Toyo's, and then I saw the V710 from Kumho. It sure looks good...anyone know how long the tread lasts? Also, do they make it in either a 205/60/13 or 225/50/13?

Thanks!

p.s. In your opinion, which would you choose between the Victoracers or the Toyo's?

I like the toyo's

Kumho recomends replacing 710s EVERY weekend. They are longer lasting than the hoosier'04 tires, about thesame as the hoosier '03 tires, and faster than both. That said, if you are on a tight budget, and just want a long lasting R compound , go RA1s. If you want a faster long lasting(but sensitive to too many heat cycles tire) go V700 Victoracer. 710s are not for you, but they are very fast new(fastest DOT tire according to many). The V700s have gone up in price, and the RA1s have come down, so advantage RA1 IMHO. Carl

Seems like the Toyo's are going to be the way to go. Anyone know where to order them? I need a place that can shave and heat cycle them too. Tire rack doesn't sell Toyo.

You might go to spec7.org or pm Chris Taylor, he should be able to tell you where they get them.

I agree that the Victoracers last forever. We ran a set in a 6 hour enduro and they had more than 12 heat cycles on them before the race. They still have rubber on them. Of course they were never sticky, and were kind of scarry when the rain started. :)

I get Toyo Proxes RA-1's from Appalachian Race Tire: www.racetire.com
They come to most of the SCCA and NASA races in the southeast - and if you can hook up at the track, they will mount and balance the tires for no additional charge, plus there are no shipping or disposal charges. If you need, they can UPS them to you, but then you obviously have to pay shipping and find someone to mount them for you.

There is probably a similar dealer in your area - talk to your local racers and see who they're using.
