Anyone ever run Kumho Ecsta V700 for ITS, could use a response ASAP please.
 

Per title, I can get them really cheap, wondering if they are any good. Obviously they would have to be shaved. Has anyone run these that can compare them to a hoosier R6 or a Toyo RA-1?? Thanks folks!! Oh yeah, these are the Ecsta's NOT the Victoracers. Thanks everyone

I've never used them but IIRC they're more of an autocross tire and will tend to blister and overheat on anything but a small, light, low power car like a 1.6 Miata.

heh, you saw the sale on tirerack huh? I've seen them used, but no personal experience... You can also check out the new toyo 888s? I just run v710s on the track cause my car's fairly easy on tires...

I used them on my TII for track schools for several years. They did the job but were nothing special. I have a set of the new BFG-R1s now and really like them.

anyone have a race distance on them? Just curious if they will turn to crap after a half hour or so.

I used them on my rx7 for track days. They did chunk more than the hoosiers. And are heavier but they still stuck good.

They were not sold for a very long time........were they a mistake by Kumho or something?

I used to use the 215/50 X13 V700 when it was available on my IT7 car. I had them shaved by Vilven or locally by a guy in KC that has a tire shaver. About 4/32 is what I had them shaved to. As far as wear they were similar to the R5/R6 and are not as soft as the ECSTA V710. I believe I was getting about 8 heat cycles out of them depending on the track. I used to rotate them side to side and front to back to get the best life. They can be flipped on the rim also as they are symetrical and not directional when shaved. I still have a set of 175/60x13 I use for rains.

Performance wise they are not as fast as a Hoosier or the V710. Don'tnow about the Toyo's because no body runs them around here. The V710 is better but they should be heat cycled (on the track or by the Tire Rack) before use in competition. Both the V700 and the V710 are faster in the their 2nd. 3rd and 4th heat cycles.

I have found the V710 and the V700 to be a forgiving tire. They remind me of a bias ply tire and seem to like slip angle. Not as twitchy as the Hoosier.

The V700's take more air pressure than the V710's do. You do need to make sure that you do not over inflate them as they will chunk at the center if you do. I believe my starting pressures were 28-29PSI and hot was 38-40PSI.

All of this was on a well developed but heavy (2500lb.) ITA car with a 13x7 wheel.

I just picked up a set of the 225/45-15s myself ($74/ea with shaving!). I ran them in the 205/45-16 size on my '02 Miata several years ago for auto-x. A good tire but not a great tire like the V710. I'm going to use them for local auto-x duty. For non-rain use you WILL need to have them shaved or they'll chunk.

I ran them for two weekends when they first came out. The old 03 Hoosiers were much quicker and lasted as long or longer. The newer generation of Hoosiers are lightyears ahead of what the 03s were. The R6 Hoosier will last as long as the V700 and be much, much faster. The RA1 isn't in the same league either. We were 1.5s quicker at IRP on Hoosiers in the SM than we were with Toyos.

If you want to run up front it's Hoosiers, Goodyear, or maybe the BFGs.
