anybody use/experienced advance design struts?
 

it's about time i move from b stock into SP. first off i was looking at many brands of coilovers for my FC.

tein type ra
hks hyper damper II
and
advance-design struts with ground contol coilovers.

if you've had any experience with any of these please give me a little review on them. anythign will help, from what you heard, or know.

Go for the good stuff..

The first two are your best bet to my knowledge. But I'd rather go with something from Penske. They are pricey but you get what you pay for...

I've heard nothing but good things about the advanced design setup. Ground control will valve the shocks to your needs and they are fully rebuildable and double adjustable. Of my friends and acquaintances using them you can include several SE-R cup cars, Sheehan's USTCC Subaru, Wayne's EP RX-7, and others. An awful lot of front runners use them yet I have not seen a Tein setup ever used on a dedicated track car around here. From what I've heard they're the best bang for the buck in pure racing shocks offered right now. Of course this all comes as second hand so take it as you want...

I don't have struts, but I do use Advance Design shocks. Search the Forum for "M2/AD" and "Advance Design" to find some info. Here's an old thread that touches on rebuilding, dealing with AD, and checking/adjusting the nitrogen pressure yourself:

the advanced design units are the only truely race shocks in your list. you could also include Penske, Moton, JRZ, and Bilstein in your list. I personally like the Bilsteins from AWR that they use on there EP car. they are custom valved for the FC race car. I am using a set of bilsteins modified and valved by Shocktek so far they have been great, but I would probably buy the AWR units if I had to buy new shocks tomorrow. looks like is no more.Shocktek

I've heard nothing but good things about the AD shocks/struts. I'm not sure about the HKS setup, but the Tein and JiC systems do not have independent adjustments for bump and rebound. And to top it off, you get to select your own spring rates and GC will valve the shocks to your springs. The AD/GC setup is a bit pricey, but worth the extras. :)

looks like i'm going for the AD setup. i haven't raced since a month, went to an actual track and corded up my front tires from too much roll (new victoracers) which sucked. rather from getting new sway bars up front i rather go all out and get bars+coilovers. after this comes cage and finally performance! :D :D :D

Just fyi, I have a set of AD coilovers for the FD for sale. They need to be rebuilt, but even considering that it would be the cheaper way to get into them.
