All road racers!!!

With the LS1 do any of you race in SCCA or Nasa? If so what classes? I am looking for build a car for both SCCA and Nasa.

Only SCCA class you could run is the regional-only ITE class which is a catch all for pretty much any car and has no real rules.

NASA has a good set of classes called Performance Touring (PT) and Super Touring (ST) depending on your power/weight ratio.

Depending on your region you may be able to run the SPO under SCCA. Essentially the same thing as ITE (some regions treat SPO/U as ITE). Since your car is not from an established racing series, you would have to run full GT/Production safety gear, including a fuel cell and full welded cage.

Check with your SCCA region to see what they have.

If you built the car to one of NASA's classes, you could run the car in ITE for SCCA weekends... at least in MiDiv anyway ITE is for cars built to other classes or sanctioning body rules AS LONG as they meet the IT safety requirements.

Ahh, that's true. I hadn't thought about going that route. Good catch, Scott.

Enjoy getting spanked by big dollar racers in SCCA, NASA's the way to go in order to be somewhat competitive.

Agreed. Makes complete sense.

If I were going to keep the 7 I'd go this route but I'm moving back out of racing into HPDE. I got the perfect donor for it too :)

Not to hijack, but, why?

cash flow, don't have the money to keep up with a full race schedule, and looking at relocating to an apartment where storing a truck/trailer would be out of the question.

I'd like to see your car. Been thinking of jumping in.

Let me get it out of the garage, washed and snap some pics this weekend, and we can setup a time.

One of my students a few months back at Sebring had a nice LS1 FC out for HPDE with NASA, and the car was amazing!! He had some issues to sort out with adding grip, but as far as the power was concerned we were on the z06's tails all day! Really made me think!
