alignment setting for road racing [3]
a recent "off track excursion" at thunderhill has left me in need of an alignment. just curious what others are running, especially in camber front and rear.
running a fd with 245/17 front and 265 rear. GAB shocks/M2 coilover/RB swaybars. corner weighed. near stock ride height. tia fabian |
No help on 3rd gens, but I"m running -2.5* cam, +6* cas, 0 toe up front, and -1.0 cam, 0 toe in back..

I have always used the Pettit recommendations on their site. They have settings for various wheel sizes and types of driving.

I recommend keeping toe at zero, particularly if you drive you car on the street. I use M2's suggestions with 18s to good effect. Gene www.purplemantis.com |

I'd ask what's your driving style? If you're comfortable with the rear stepping out a bit, then I would recommend being more aggressive with the alignment. If you tend to over-react when the car oversteers, then I'd say be a little more conservative.
Pettit's website is a little conservative, if you ask me. They recommend 1/16" toe out (F) for autocross ... if you're really competitive, you'd want something more aggressive; like 1/8" toe out (F). If I had your setup and my FD was strictly a track car, this is what I would run: Toe: 1/8" out (F), 1/32" in (R) Camber: -2.2 (F), -2.0 (R) Caster: +5.5 - 6.0 If your FD is street driven, you might want to back off the toe out. |
Have you checked Pettit Racing's website? They have a section that gives you alignments settings for road racing. www.pettitracing.com
