Alignment question
Ok. Got a 323 GTX. Been slowly rebuilding everything from the ground up. Didn't intend it to be that way but the truth is every bushing and seal on the thing is wore out. So....
On the front end I've replaced the tie-rod ends, ball joints, and wheel bearings. Factory spec for camber on these things is actually something like .7 positive (don't have my book in front of me but it is slightly positive). So I'm wanting some negative. Maybe 1*. Don't wanna spend the money for camber plates so I redrill the upper mounts. Get it all done, roll the car around to settle it and....I still have about .2 positive from .7-8 before I drilled it. Damn didn't drill it enough. Well maybe not. We roll the car backwards and the camber goes way negative. Just looking at it it's atleast 1* negative. Roll it forward and it goes positive. So something is loose. Check everything and it's all tight. Only thing I can think is that the control arm bushings are shot and the arms are walking in and out. But I can't feel the movement with the car in the air and yanking on the wheel. Stuts have some miles on them but the shafts are tight enough that they been eliminated as the problem. Anyone? Chris |
I don't know this car ,, but ,, how about the bearing at the top of the strut, or ball joints?? Is the "problem" on BOTH sides?

Both sides. I thought about the strut top mount and that's on the list of things it could be. Everything, including ball joints, is new except the upper mounts and the control arm bushing. It's a strut setup so it's basically the same as an RX7.
