ABM timing system
 

is the option to rent a transponder for $40. anybody know how it works? what's involved? i imagine you have to install the unit in your car. does it give you a reading after each lap? thanks.

The last time I went out to track is with speedventures.
They have a small transponder that I have to stick on the car.
So I tape it on my rear license plate using racing tapes. I think it is battery operated, and just send signal to the pickup underneath the track. No reading for me in car. They have the sheet printed out after track session is done.

My AMB transponder is hardwired into the car, but they rent battery powered ones. You just need to mount it somewhere in the car where it has a clear, unobstructed view of the ground.

Mine's in the radiator ducting.
