787B color Scheme?

Hi,

I'm not sure what forum this belongs in but, Does any body know what the colors the Mazda 787B race car is. In one picture it looks red-orange, and Dark Mint (Is that a color?). Yet in another picture the coloration looks bright orange, and teal in color. I haven't been able to find a definative answer. If anybody know the actual color names that would be awesome. I'm considering panting my first gen spec7 this color (It's a race car too).

Assuming that the colors on the Auto Art 1:18 scale 787B and the 1:42 model are correct (I have both on my desk) the colors are BRG and a bright red with a trace of orange.

The pictures of the car on the internet (those that I have seen) appear Orange, but that may or may not correct.

There is a strip of bronze at the bottom. There is a silver patch covers the back of the roof and the front of the hatch.

This applies to the car that won at LeMans. The 787 actually had 3 different paint schemes I believe.

Google for 'Mazda Livery Colors'

In 1991 there was a special edition MX-5 in the UK that had the full Mazda livery paint job on it. Only 24 cars were ever made, but you may still be able to pull the OEM paint codes from this car.

Google: "mx-5 special edition bbr turbo". Here is a link that I found:

Got a snapshot of one of those Mx-5's in LeMans City back in 2006.

It's definitely teal and orange-red in those pictures. But beware of trying to color-match based on a photo (digital or film) - the colors will always be slightly off, sometimes significantly. A friend of mine who's a photographer once showed me some photos he had taken of a color pattern using different films. There were significant variations, especially in reds.

Good luck,
