need more info on your setup could be a million things

it the ELEVATION, NM is (on average) MUCH higher above sea level than Virginia. Also at higher Altitudes you should ADVANCE the timing not retard it - higher altitude = LESS Oxygen and SLOWER combustion.

rx-7 crazy 08-09-03 12:57 AM

my 6 ports do not open this also affects my engine im sure

yayarx7 08-10-03 11:00 AM

do you have the ports wired open or do they stay closed?

If they stay closed you are losing a ton of power at high RPMs

closed :( if i wire them open at the track and close them the rest of the time should that help my times and save my milage on the road

It's all about the elevation. Everything feels sluggish at this elevation. Albuquerque Elevation averages around 5000', BIG difference from Sea Level. The first time I took at road trip I thought my car had gained 100hp, and that was in a Cadilac. Where abouts do you live in Albuquerque. I do not know too many rotary enthusiasts in Alb. Marc

i live in the apts across from cibola high school just moved here from newport news VA we can get together and hit one of these roads or the drag strip if your up for it one weekend

Wire them open at the track and on the street.

When they are funcional, ports are closed for low RPM torque, and open for more airflow at higher RPM.

The best power band comes with them funcional at the RPM where your torque starts to fall off.

The second best would be to be wide open, the ports that is, at all times to make high end power, cuase that is what the rotary does, makes high RPM power.

If you left them closed all the time you would have all your torque up to about 4000RPM at which time your power band would fall off campared to the ports being open.

...my 2 cents.

rx-7 crazy 09-03-03 07:28 PM

only problem with that is its my daily driver and i dont get to play that much so i'd kill my gas worse than having them closed and keeping the rpms reasonable...true $.o2

yayarx7 09-04-03 06:16 PM

theoretically, keeping the revs below the normal opening RPM would be the best for MPG, whether the ports are closed all the time or fully funcional.

The best way I know of, is to keep your air pump, rig up an aquarium or plumbing valve to provide pressure to the ports. Then you could adjust the valve to open whenever you desired, or not open at all.

rx-7 crazy 09-06-03 08:26 PM

damn i already threw my air pump out, and ac :D
