Surging idle when the A/C is on
I just got my PFC and the car idles pretty high(1500) and then slowly settles down to 1000. But when the A/C compressor is on the idle surges between 1100 and 500 constantly. If I turn off the A/C the idle stabilizes to 1000. Is there a setting that I need to tweak? Or coould a belt be on too tight or something?
I also just had a ported motor and 1300cc's installed along with the PFC. The car isn't tuned yet. I just uploaded ZeroBangers .dat(datalogit) file into my PFC. Since we have similar mods. Does anyone have any ideas on how to adjust PFC idle settings? |
adjust your idle to 800 with the IAC motor unplugged (further to the pass side from the TPS)
then replug it, it should work |
Is this the only alternative?
Also is the IAC the screw on top? |
I had a problem with my PFC at first with idle stability. I fixed it by resetting the PFC and actually giving it the 15 minutes for each stage of idle to learn. Haven't had a problem since.

If I "reset" the PFC, will it erase my maps? And how do I reset the PFC?

I have the datalogit.
So after I reset the PFC, how do I let the PFC "learn" all the idle settings? I'm guessing that I just let the car idle for a while with the a/c both on and off until the idle smoothes out. Then, I re-upload the maps right? Correct me if I'm wrong. |

To keep the car cooler, I did this at like 1am with the hood up. Then you can just reload your maps. Are you using David's maps? If so, the idle speeds will be changed a little bit from the defaults. |
Originally posted by rynberg After you reset the PFC, let it idle with no load for 15 minutes, then turn on the rear defroster and let it idle for 15 minutes, then turn on the A/C and let it idle for 15 minutes. It seems excessive but after I did this (after actually following the manual's instructions), idle stability has been good. To keep the car cooler, I did this at like 1am with the hood up. It worked! My idle is smoother than even before I got the Power FC. Thanks Tyler.
