still having idling issues, please help.
I have had idling issues since getting my power fc... I have 3 main issues: The enging kills quite often while coming to a stop or idling at a redlight, the car revs up and down from 1000 to 2000 rpm's after coming to a stop (in the event that it did not kill) and if it does kill, it revs to 2k and hold for a few min after restrating it.
In traffic it will sometimes, lets say for 2-3 stops be fine, keep 1300 rpm idle (as set) and have 0 issues, then for no reason kill on the next stop. Ocassionally like today, it killed, the I restarted, it killed again twice before I was able to start it. I have no help down here as far as I know as most help I had went away with the hurricane. I would appreciate any help. Things "ve been told to do and have done: 1. replace my master and slave cylinders for my clutch. 2. set values in PFC to 1400 and 1500 3. disable the O2 sensor in PFC 4. adjust idle screw on TB. I would sincerely appreciate any help. Thanks |
join me at Freddy's in Thibideaux . I have the same issues currently as many here have had.
I guess it is a fix that is car dependent. Look at a FAQ about prepping before you do your PFC. The guy that wrote that helped me but I think I have to make PFC adjustments with the 780 primaries 1st. I have done the ISC and TB idle screw checked, for vacume leaks but still surges up and down. Leaned out 13.2 didnt help. Reset PFC. Stumped. But I will figure it out.there are a lot of threads on what others have found to be the solution. |
will do, but will need to plan a trip down there, I am in Slidell.

zonblitz: Check your TPS. It's easy to do with the PFC Commander in the Sensor/Switch check screen. Sometimes values in spec but at the edge can cause a proplem without highlighting on the Commander screen.
Also, if you have a Datalogit, in setting 4 'IGN vs WaterT Cool' change the retard at 60 Temp from 15 to 5. This is not a fix for the problem but may help rpm recovery instead of stalling. Yea, these PFC idle problems can be weird. Even with everything adjusted correctly the PFC seems to have a mind of it's own. You just have to try different things until something works. Never stop looking for boost leaks either as this is the main source for a fluctuating, rough or high idle. |
3. disable 02 sensor
this will not fix your idle or even remotely correct it, thats just someone giving a "i have no idea" answer |
when you see normal idle, jump to sensor check / sw and note down what is on / off and values and then when you have the psycho idle problem go back to here and try and visually compare the values and whats on / off maybe something is turning on / off without you knowing or one of the vales is going pretty high.

Will do today, thanks for the ideas.
no I don't have a data logit.... just commander |
idle is a standard function, i would be surprised if you needed access to datalogit to get a stable idle. how is the idle stock ecu? does it behave the same. is this hard to test? not sure cos ive read/seen you have to change wiring to suit rx7 powerfc whereas skyline rb25 powerfc is direct swap so we can easily swap back to stock ecu

Watched sensors all the way home ( about 32 miles) and as luck would have it, no idling issues... lol.
CCN was on all the time, APR was on about 85% of the time FPD came on from what I could tell when I was boosting even slightly FPR came on occasionally PAC came on when I was stopped and idling The rest like NTR, STP and CLT came on as used. I turned the O2 sensor back on.... |
I am happy to report that I have finally taken care of my idle/killing issues:
There were a few things that needed attention. 1. return screw inside TB to close and back off 1/4 turn. 2. Turn idle setting in pfc etc to off. 3. change idles in pfc settings to 800, 850 and 900, with the higher settings to 1300. 4. plug off hose that used to go to the factory intake elbow. 5. clean and grease the valve at the rear of the UIM/TB forget name. 6. Killing issue was solved by repositioning the dash pot... All is well here, thanks for all your help guys! |
congrats....my motor broke on first road drive. I will have to start all over. Enjoy your car!
