Here are some base maps from BDC:

http://bdc.cyberosity.com/main.php?g2_itemId=14542

Unzip the folder, there are multiple tunes in the folder so you need to select the one that most closely matches your setup

You are using only a Commander? See post #1 of this thread, the section on timing: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/how-make-your-untuned-pfc-basemap-safer-idle-better-no-datalogit-needed-841706/ . Basically it says that the default Apex'i leading map (the one that shows up when you reset the PFC) is fine for a lot of setups, but the trailing map really should be retarded at least 4 degrees in the higher boost rows (P15 or greater)

BUT you have given us zero information about your car and what the situation is.

oo well i have the 93 fd. im pretty sure my twin turbos r blown. my friend said i have a leak somewhere. also my car doesnt fire up right away. my timing belt is off by about 180 degrees. and im getting 7 miles to the gallon. thats all iv figured out so far could be more problems.

Youngx7 07-05-10 01:19 AM

thank you guys for the replies. iv been looking all day. greatly appreciated. also would those maps be the best to use for my car?

If you get stuck, shoot me an email and I'll make you a base map. bdc@bdcmotorsports.com

There is no timing belt (or chain) to be off by any amount of degrees.

Sounds like your car has problems that have nothing to do with the PFC tuning. You have stock twins, stick with the stock map until you sort out all the other non-PFC related issues. Just reset the ECU to the default map.

I would start with a compression test and work from there.

Take it to Mazdatrix in Signal Hill.

i just rebuild the motor because i had a compression leak. and that little white dot that is supposed to line up doesnt line up. i also took it to mazdatrix and they wanted 7000 to rebuild the motor so i said forget it.

The trailing timing mark will only line up if the ecu is telling it to do -5 -20 so it won't always line up and is not an indication of a problem. The 3rd gens don't have any timing adjustment so there is no way it can be off with a stock/powerfc ecu. If mazdatrix did a compression test and decided the engine was blown, then there is no way around your problem but to rebuild your motor. Although 7k is a bit steep, was that just for a rebuild or did it include other things?

Compression leak? You had broken apex seals or low compression?

What is your current compression?

You just rebuilt your engine and you don't know that there is not a timing belt? Is this a joke?

The crank angle sensors take care of the timing pick up, so unless you forced the trigger wheel on by drilling out the holes, it is impossible to be 180 out.

ya they wanted 7k for the rebuild. i had the rebuild done already but for a better price at a friends shop. i dont remember what the compression was back then. this was about six months ago. but i know the numbers were low. so if it doesnt line up theres no problem? do you know what would be causing me to get such low gas milage and such low power? 7mpg and im only making 147 to the wheels. i had my car on a dino about 4 or 5 months ago after the rebuild. im having a friend come over today to help me with the car. but if the maps arent the problem then i need to get a map set because i spent all yesterday changing my leading map already.

Youngx7 07-05-10 04:41 PM

sorry i forgot one more thing. my ecu is telling me -25 -25 for both and i dont know how to change it bak. when i get to the spot where i see both of them i cant select either of them.

hmmm ok. im not sure then. but my friend had his timing hooked up to my car to check it and we couldnt see the white line/dot which ever at all so i was just guessing it was showing up on the under side which i cant see from the top of my car.

You can see it from the top of the car. You need to use the front trailing plug as the timing marker. However, it will only line up if your idle is doing -5 -20 on the commander. Sounds like you need a tune or your engine may be blown again because it wasn't properly tuned in the first place. Of course, I could be completely off, but you haven't given enough info. I suggest doing a compression test.
