raising boost w/ power fc

hey guys,
i dont really understand something regarding raising boost. if i already have a power fc, would i still need a manual boost controller to raise boost? i wanna raise my s5 to about 10psi, so what would this require? is it something i could adjust in the maps? i havent installed it yet, so im just trying to get some base knowledge to go off of.
thanks in advance!

ahh, like the lil $35 MAC solenoid right? would that hook right into stock location?

at what psi does the stock turbo become inefficient? how much psi can a s5 t2 block handle safely?

also, would this replacement solenoid work with my stock ecu until i install the power fc?

don't use it with a stock ECU. the duty cycles will be too high.

alright, thanks boss. question though: in your thread recommended to me above, you said someting along the lines of, "1. Hook up a boost control solenoid to the factory wastegate solenoid plug (FD) or directly to PFC pin 4U (FC). ". where would i find this pin on the pfc? i have an ap engineering unit, would that alter the location? and what about the other wire that comes off of the MAC solenoid? theres 2, right?
thanks in advance!

I don't know the pinout on the AP Engineering unit. It may have something wired up for the precontrol pin, or the wastegate pin. It may have nothing wired in. You will have to look at the harness and compare it to the wiring diagram. Maybe the stock boost control solenoid plug on an S5 is connected to one of the pins. Banzai Racing would likely know.

One wire goes to the pulsed ground (Either precontrol or wastegate pin) and another is +5V source.

The factory boost control solenoid that is mounted on the oil filler neck is wired to the pre-control on the AP, just like our adapter.

alright, thanks for the help guys! so would i be able to plug in the mac solenoid w/ a connector w/ the same styling as the 2 pin connector that the fd uses? the one that people have mentioned can be picked up from like ballenger sports?

Banzai-Racing 11-23-15 12:28 PM

Not unless you buy the male and female connectors.

Why not just use the factory solenoid that is already on the car? The PFC will raise boost using it.

ahh, good to know. i wasnt sure if the same rules applied w/ the stock solenoid in an fc with a pfc. ill just do that then, thank you
