Power fc won't boot up

I sent my car to Petit Racing to get an intake and a fuel problem fixed. When they tried to tune it my power fc wouldn't boot up. They tuned with theirs and I sent mine to Apexi to get fixed. Just got it back from apexi and it still won't boot up.

Just wondering if there is some sort of trick to plugging it in or if anyone has any suggestions cause it doesn't seem to be my computer.

What do you mean it won't boot up? The car won't start? What are the symptoms? Can a Commander or Datalogit communicate with it at all?

The car will not start and the commander won't show anything pass the apexi logo screen. Apexi just inspected it and said that the commander and computer were communicating fine.

Bad ground?

arghx 07-07-11 11:50 AM

yeah check the grounds. There are 4 of them iirc.

my stock computer works fine wouldn't that mean that my grounds are good?

Reills 07-07-11 07:05 PM

do you have to disconnect the battery and plug the pfc in a certain orders?

Reills 07-07-11 09:14 PM

as said my pfc won't go past the apexi logo screen. I already checked the brown wire in commander and it is still connected.

Well the Commander can hang up for a number of reasons. Do you have access to a Datalogit you can try to hook up? Did you go into the FSM and start metering the harness pins to see if they are ok? There are voltage specs for each one.

If your stock computer is working fine that certainly makes you think that there is something wrong the PFC. BUT it is possible that you have a working PFC however

1) some kind of Commander-related issue causing the screen to hang up
2) some kind of tuning-related issue causing the engine not to start

That's why I would hook up a Datalogit to it next. Also, did you buy this used? What are the serial numbers on the PFC and Datalogit?

Arghx, looks like he has a RHD FD--doesn't that require a JDM-specific PFC? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

arghx 07-08-11 11:05 AM

There is no JDM specific PFC. In fact, the PFC everyone uses is meant for a Japanese car. That's why you have to cut wires to make it work.

Gotcha. Thanks.

I do have a rhd. Just as a side note I was of the understanding that i had a 16 bit computer instead of the 8 bit in american cars so i had to get a pfc to match that. Is that wrong?

If you have a '96 model you need to get the Power FC for a series 7 car. It is 414-Z005 instead of 414-Z004 which is for series 6, 92-95. You will have to search around for one. Some googling pulled up this site http://www.rotaryart.uk.com/acatalog/Apexi_ECU.html .

I already own the correct pfc. This pfc has worked for my car before. Can anyone help me find a diagram of the grounds for my ecu harness?
