Power FC Water Temp Reading
 

Hey,

Just started my car after finishing getting a new engine it, starts and idles great no issues there. my question is, on my PFC, the water temp readings are in the teens (Celsius) and my fans kick in right when it hits about 20 degrees Celsius. now I know that can't be accurate, Also if I shut the car off then turn it back on, the water temp reading on the PFC jumps to say 56. Any ideas why its doing this? I figured the fans come on at 87 Celsius (FC Thermoswitch) so if they are coming on its probably because the engine is at that temp, but the PFC tells me 20...

On a side. note, probably not related, but my coolant buzzer is on non stop, I turn the key to the on position (car off) and after about 6 seconds it comes on and never goes away, plenty of coolant in it, switch is plugged in on the water pump, etc. figured I'd throw that in there in case someone else has had the same problem, thanks.

Sounds like you have the fuel temp and water temp connectors swapped.

if the coolant buzzer is on you either did not plug the black connector behind the a/c compressor or you confused the a/c (white) for low coolant (black)

Neither of of these are PFC issues, they are install issues

Hi, thanks for the reply. Both of these are behind the power steering pump correct? I can verify I have them connected to the proper plug.

Yes, black to black, white to white (unless you do not have a/c)


Water and fuel temp are green connectors behind the water pump and on the secondary fuel rail

Thanks, yea I was sure the fuel temp sensor was on the fuel rails, though I didn't think that that connector would fit on the water temp sensor. Either way, I'll check all of that, appreciate the help.

Ok good call on that one! the clips were reversed, I double checked the the wiring color to make sure I got them plugged in correctly. Will start the car tomorrow as I ran out of time today. On a second note, the black and white plugs behind the power steering pump were both connected correctly, but the buzzer lives on comes on after 10 seconds or so then never goes off.

I checked the level sensor wire for continuity from the water pump down to where it plugs in behind the power steering pump, that seemed to be good so not really sure why that buzzer still buzzing... but thats a topic for a different thread.

Bad sensor or it is actually low on coolant

Its a brand new sensor on a brand new water pump (though I know new things can also be broken) coolant is up above the sensor so it shouldn't buzz

Easy enough to test the wiring, ground out each connection
