Power FC in my S4
 

So a friend with an FD is probably going to sell his 13brew and getting a 2jz instead so everything rotary must go, he has a power fc unit wich i'm considering buying from him.
What in addition to the power fc itself would i want to get of the car to make it easyer on myself and not having to buy a banzai kit.

I was thinking:
engine harness
coils
tps sensor
pressure/map sensor

anything to add?

Well the easiest way would be to buy the banzai patch harness kit hands down.

That brings up the cost to the point where i might be better of getting another system..

Any clear pros and cons to a power fc vs a haltech e6k or a sprint RE?

The FD engine harness is not compatible with the S4 FC dash harness. You end up having the hack the entire car up to get the engine harness in. The FD TPS is not compatible with the FC throttle. The FD map sensor plugs into the chassis harness, which will not exist in the FC. The FD coils will require the FD igniter.

Basically you will need to spend countless hours rewiring your entire car with a good chance it will never run, just to avoid buying our adapter harness, which makes it plug and play in less than an hour.

If you feel like rewiring your whole car you may as well buy a Haltech or Microtech at least those will come with a wiring diagram for you to follow.

Thanks for the input, i will wait and see how much my friend wants for the pfc and buy that and you'r kit if it's turns out to be the best way for me to go.

Btw while i have you'r attention, would pfc be a good choice for my application?

semi pp with itb's and custom intake planning on running 2*1000ID injectors

Microtech would probably be easier for that setup in all honesty ^

Can i use it?

If you are only going to run 2 injectors and ITB's, I would not install the PFC. Just the fact that there is no optical calibration of the TPS would make it a headache. Not to mention all the other reasons.....

I planned to run 2 injectors and itb's, but plans can always change, i can use a FD uim and TB with tps and run 4 injectors.

But can i use that pfc(PFC FD3S4 020- 3053.) with you'r kit? if i can i think i will adjust my plans to fit work with the pfc. The only local guy with a Dyno has some experience with PFC but have never touched a haltech or microtech.

If it is from a 93-95 it can be used with our install kit.

So it doesn't matter if it's rhd or lhd?

Microtech is easier to tune then a powerfc.

Is it possible to run 720cc sec injectors or do they need to be atleast 850cc like the stock FD secondarys? I ask since i have a pair of 720cc from my T2 engine.

I have a Datalogit btw.

You can input any size injector you want in, you literally type the size in. We have customers with N/A's using their stock 460cc injectors

Great, then i only need to buy you'r kit and i should be ready to install the pfc.

So got the pfc kit from Banzai (great service btw), so i will be ready to install it before next weeked, so i can use the weekend to make small changes on the base map and get it to where i can DD before the weekend is over(my only car).

Will be using it with my stock s4na engine, until the semi pp engine is done.

Anyway, back to an earlier question relating to the semi pp engine, is there any big problem in using the FD tps in conjuction with ITB's? In nmy mind it shouldn't be to difficult to mount the FD tps on itb's and get it showing correct values.

It would probablty be much easier to mount the S4 or S5 TPS, since they both a plunger type and can be mounted on an easy to fabricate bracket. Where as the FD is a preloaded spring type that needs a specific mount to function correctly.

I have an FD TPS and a couple of S4 tps sensors, so it would be one of those. From what i know, the fd and s5 tps are better than the s4, so since i have the FD tps(and the itb's i want to use), wouldn't it be worth it trying to make a mount for the FD tps?
I just went back to school, so in any case it will be a long time until i can get the semi pp project done, so if it's just a matter of more difficult/time consuming, it realy isn't a problem, lack of money is the factor that will slow this build down.

You can do whatever you want if you have the fabrication skill.

I'm not that skilled yet, but everyone haveto start somewhere too become skilled.
